Devr-i Kebir (the big circle) is an Ottoman rhythmic cycle of 28 beats. The same amount of days as a silk worm incubates inside its cocoon, transforming by metamorphosis into a butterfly.

Who hasn’t ever wanted to hide away, make a chrysalis around yourself created by a thick forest of thought threads? The truth is we all do this, we spin and weave our reflections, our sorrows, our speculations and premonitions into a white tangle that prevents us from seeing beyond.

It can also be true that artists, those capable of creating beauty, commonly live in a kind of chrysalis of their own. Here is where they can be left in peace to contemplate beauty, protected from unfriendly unbeloved aspects of the outside world.
