100 ulls (100 Eyes)
Efrén López

In Greek mythology, Argus, the giant servant of the goddess Hera, had a hundred eyes which made him a famous watchman since he was able to look in all directions at once. Following his devious murder, Hera wished to eternally honour the memory of her faithful servant by permanently inscribing his one hundred eyes on the feathers of a peacock’s tail.
For some mysterious reason, I have long been fascinated by the feathers of this beautiful bird and I have often come across similar myths on its symbolism in cultures of the whole world.
I dedicate this piece to my student Maria Mavroudi who has given me one of the best presents of my life, and to her family who is so welcoming. EL
